Cantina di Negrar Valpolicella Ripasso 2022 - Italy

Rich and velvety, this wine captivates with luscious dark cherry and plum flavors. The ripasso method of passing the juice over the dried skins of the grapes used in their Amarone wines adds lovely hints of raisin, cocoa and spice. Elegant, with a lingering finish. 70% Corvina, 15% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella grapes.

Consisting of 230 growers and 700 hectares, Cantina di Negrar is a co-operative located just a few kilometres from Verona, in the heart of Valpolicella. They are one of the major producers in Valpolicella Classico owning a quarter of all Classico Vineyards, and are the only winery to have vineyards in all 5 communes of the region. They have a long and distinctive history of winemaking going back to 1933 and were the first to produce Amarone in 1939, after a serendipitous mistake producing Recioto.

This wine goes well with all red meats, boiled or grilled. Ideal with braised meat or even pasta with black truffles.
