Cantina di Negrar Amarone della Valpolicella 2022 - Italy

From the winery responsible for the invention of Amarone! An opulent, full-bodied, dense and compact red. This has a highly perfumed nose - intense and persistent - fruity with notes of black cherries and dried prunes, fruits and flowers, sweetly spiced vanilla. Velvety palate with a long, lingering finish. a deliciously smooth mouth-feel and velvety tannins.

Located in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica zone on dry terraces in the hills from Negrar at an altitude between 150 and 350 metres above sea level. Grapes are gently dried "appassimento" for 100-120 days, and then destemmed and gently pneumatic pressed in January. Slow maceration for 30 days (of which 12 are cold). Manual punching down of cap once a day. Malolactic fermentation completed in cask followed by 18 months aging in 50 hl barrels, followed by a further 6 months in bottle.

A fine companion for all grilled, braised and game meat. Perfect with aged cheese.
