QUINTA DE COVELA
Dating from the 1500s, the ruins of the old, stone Casa de Covela, today composed of the facade of the original Renaissance manor house and the more recent chapel of St. Quiteria, bear witness to the centuries-old agricultural and cultural importance of the estate.
In more recent times, the Covela estate belonged to Manoel de Oliveira, one of the most important European film directors of the second half of the 20th Century and an incredible spirit who worked until his death, with 106 years of age. The director, himself a Renaissance Man, enlarged and transformed Covela, that originally came to him as his wife's dowry, on several fronts: he built or rebuilt aqueducts for irrigation; massive stone walls; a series of houses and warehouses and ample stone sun-terraces for drying what was once the farm's main crop - corn.
COVELA EDIÇÃO NACIONAL AVESSO

Intense and complex, eager to show its floral side and a dose of fragrant herbs.
Creamy, refreshing acidity and a very elegant finish.
Temperature 7ºC to 8ºC
An ideal wine to pair with grilled fish or seafood, and even sushi and sashimi. Its freshness and light-hearted character also make it a great wine to accompany starters or to be enjoyed al fresco as an aperitif.
COVELA EDIÇÃO NACIONAL ARINTO
The name – Edição Nacional, or National Edition comes from the use of a Portuguese grape variety used in this Vinho Verde – Arinto.
Bright, straw colour
Nose Intense and fresh. Minerality and overtones of citrus fruits.
Dry, good structure, long finish.
Temperature Between 8°C and 10°C
Ideal with grilled fish and seafood. With its youthful zest, this wine goes well with various hors d'oeuvre or can be enjoyed without food.
COVELA ESCOLHA BRANCO
A characterful assemblage led by Covela’s main grape Avesso, blended with Chardonnay and a couple of other “spices”.
Bright, pale straw.
Expressive. Floral with heady notes of tropical fruit and good intensity. Undertones of the region’s granitic minerality promise a complex wine.
Dry, with nicely-balanced acidity and minerality typical of the region. Despite being fresh (and refreshing), this wine has notes of ripe stone fruits, some tropicality and shows a certain creaminess against its strong, mineral backdrop. Long, elegant finish. Abundant personality.
Temperature 12 ºC to 14 ºC
An excellent wine to pair with various types of starters, though best when accompanying fish and seafood. Also gives a nice twist to poultry, pasta and some pork dishes and is an excellent foil for creamy sauces. A wine with ageing potential of at least five years
COVELA RESERVA BRANCO
